Are Travel restrictions lifted ?

Are Travel restrictions lifted ? We are living in Pennsylvania and “As of March 1, 2021 the Order of the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health for Mitigation Relating To Travel is no longer in effect. Travelers should still practice appropriate public health measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 such as masking, physical distancing, and hand hygiene.” see Pennsylvania’s Department of Health website for more information.

Hurray, Hurray (dancing.. dancing.. in the ceiling – old 80’s music reference ..) Well even if travel restrictions in your area are lifted you should only travel if you are comfortable, and is willing to follow safely protocols to the place you are going and when you come back. Also try to do a little bit of research on the place where you are going, try to assess and feel if you will be comfortable to the place you are going to. Sometimes it might feel uncomfortable to travel and take a vacation specially with what’s going on around the world, but I think it’s time to take a breather and realign your soul and your mind. I think it’s better to take these breathers during the times you can still think about “these things” rather than when you reached what termed as “covid fatigue” where you are so tired of being careful, following safety measures and say “to hell with it, nothing is happening to me. I’ll do what I want “.

In our case , we were close to those instances, our wedding anniversary is November and though of things we can do but our better judgement took over and decided not to do anything except a simple home cooked meal celebration. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year celebration was definitely different in 2020. It’s just our family, we live in the United States and originally from the Philippines so it’s just always our family. But during these special celebrations, we usually spends time with our extended family , our friends. We usually gather in one house and celebrate. But not 2020, although there something new an wonderful happened with the help of technology. On Christmas and New Year , we usually video talk to our immediate family, but last Christmas we were able to “video chat” using fb messenger with my extended family, uncle (Tito) , auntie (tita), cousins from different parts of the Philippines. I guess one thing that this pandemic has taught most of us is to use technology to do video chats.

Well, I digress. So yeah, we’ve decided to travel , still a bit scared , a bit undecided, made sure we can cancel our trip if we have to. Research on what we can do if places are close, where can we go, what we can and cannot do, you know the drill.

We decided to go to Puerto Rico, we really wanted to escape the cold winter and what better place to do it than to go a Tropical Paradise. That why we had a lot of Puerto Rico information/Post prior to this one, it’s all part of our research. We know that Puerto Rico tweaks COVID-19 rules amid slight drop in cases, Puerto Rico reopens its beaches and eases some lockdown measures and I think the most important of all the information they have is that Puerto Rico will require Covid-19 test results from visitors.

The thought of having a giant swap of cotton being jabbed in my nose makes me cringe, but my logic was it’s better to go to a place that have some Covid-19 measures and guidelines than to a place where it’s a free for all.

On the next articles, I will list down what we did prior to our schedule, what we did while in Puerto Rico and after the travel. So make sure to stay tuned, comment, and come back.
